Is there an inexpensive, fairly fast way to get from UC Irvine to UCLA without a car?

I'm a freshman at UC Irvine, and I wanted to visit a friend of mine that goes to UCLA. Neither of us have a car or have our licenses, however. I'm also really unfamiliar with the area because I'm from the Bay Area. Please don't copy paste directions from google transit. I've tried that already. Is there an inexpensive, fairly fast way to get from UC Irvine to UCLA without a car?
I don't think theres a train that goes form uc irvine to ucla,,,,,,, You will just have to drive! Bummer
By fairly fast I hope you mean about 2 hours. As it takes 12 hours to go from one to the other even in a car outside of rush hour.

And www.metro.net does have links on how to do this without a car if you look. Expect 3-4 hours by public transit as the Irvine Metrolink station is several miles from the UCI campus. Is there an inexpensive, fairly fast way to get from UC Irvine to UCLA without a car?
octa has a couple of routes that go to santa ana or orange metrolink

then you can use metrolink to los angeles,

then you can take the subway to wilshire and vermont then 720 to westwood

then you walk to uclaIs there an inexpensive, fairly fast way to get from UC Irvine to UCLA without a car?
OCTA has a shuttle that goes from UCI to the Tustin Metrolink station.

Take Metrolink to Union Station. Then take the red line subway to Wilshire and Western, and then Metro Rapid # 720, and get off at Westwood.
UCLA has a vanpool that runs from Irvine to UCLA every day. It will take about an hour and it costs $8 each way.
Check to see if there is a bus from the UCI library to the UCLA library.

I don't know if it exists, but it might.
