Do people from Washington really kayak across the pacific ocean?

I google maped directions from USA to Japan and it makes me go up to Washington and kayak to hawaii and kayak to japan. Keeps making me go to Washington first....Do people from Washington really kayak across the pacific ocean?
Do not take Google Maps literally.



While I am sure it is possible it would be extremely dangerous even for the most experienced kayakers.
I suppose that's the most convenient way to go. Maybe they do indeed have the best kayak launching point. ;-)
