Is Google maps accurate?

My friend and I are going on a road trip in less than a month and we have all the reservations for our motels lined up and even though I'm getting a GPS for the trip, my friend and I were reviewing our trip route a few days ago and when we entered the motel address in Google directions and zoomed into real life street view, I couldn't find any of the motels in street view where Google directions said the motels would be. It's getting a little frustrating since we might end up lost and not be able to find our motels. Any advice? Is Google maps accurate?
no. buy an atlas. Is Google maps accurate?
It depends on what you mean by accurate. Do the satellite and street view pictures depict actual addresses? Well, yes. But are they up to date? Not really. Some pictures can actually be up to a year old, not to mention that street view doesn't take pictures of every single address, so you might be looking at an adjacent street. GPS are usually pretty accurate, depending on the model you get. However, new buildings and developments, or even changes in streets might not yet be added to the program. My advice is to use your GPS in addition to a regular map, like google maps or mapquest, or even an atlas. Just make sure that it'snot a satellite image. And, if you're still unsure, you could pick an address close to the motels that you are sure of reaching, and then call the motels ahead of time to see if they can give you directions from that spot. Most places are pretty willing to help.Is Google maps accurate?
Try Googling the Chamber of Commerce sites in the cities you'll be visiting. Their info is much more accurate than any online map. In my own home town, which is a major tourist stop in the Eastern Sierra, the online maps are a laugh. They show streets that don't exist, dead ends as through streets, and leave out many details such as locked gates across paved roads. If you've already made reservations, try the motel web sites for a more accurate map. Write down their 800 numbers, too. Unless you and your friend are guys, calling and asking for directions is a viable choice.
