How do i make my parents more interested in technology?

well...to put it bluntly...they are very old fashioned when it comes to using appliances, phones or basicly anything...i think honestly if i wasnt around...our house would look the same as it did back in the 80s

they need my help for the simplest tasks sometimes...like for example finding directions through google maps

im really interested in technology, new gadgets and gizmos, but they dont seem to see the appeal. any suggestions as to how to get them interested in exploring more convenient forms of tech and to be more technologically independent? How do i make my parents more interested in technology?
Plain and simple...An old dog can learn a new trick if it wants to. I have tried to repair a neighbors computer but the wife will wait a year till her (computer programmer son comes home). I have no training in computers but i have up graded over 10 computers and installed, removed viruses, and got almost all my software for free since 1999. I have 2 gaming computers that I use at the same time playing online games (being on disability gives me the time since i was savagely hit by ice off my tractor trailer). I am about to do the plunge into a full version windows 7 OEM. Its very hard to convince people to do the online thing. I think they maybe avoiding confrontation with family. How do i make my parents more interested in technology?

Can any one help me get this crap off my browser, firefox.

Just got this from google.com;

Windows instructions

You can remove Google Chrome like any other Windows program. Follow these steps:

Go to Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Google Chrome %26gt; Uninstall Google Chrome.

If you want to delete your user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, select the "Also delete browser data" checkbox.

Select the default browser you'd like to use.

Click OK in the confirmation prompt.

The uninstall process will begin.

You can also use Windows's Control Panel to remove the browser. If you're having problems uninstalling the browser using these methods, try manually uninstalling the browser instead.

Did the browser come packaged with other software on your computer or via Google Pack? If so, your version of Google Chrome may be installed system-wide and you'll need to log in to a user account with administrative rights on your computer to uninstall the browser. Uninstalling a system-wide version of Google Chrome removes the browser for all user accounts on your computer.

Mac instructions

Go to the folder containing Google Chrome.

Drag Google Chrome to the Trash icon in the Dock. You'll need administrative rights if it's installed in your Applications folder. To remove the Google Chrome icon from your Dock, simply drag it out of the Dock with your mouse.

Linux instructions

Go to Applications %26gt; Debian %26gt; Applications %26gt; System %26gt; Package Management %26gt; Synaptic Package Manager.

Search for "Google Chrome" in the list of packages.

Select the "Google Chrome package" checkbox.

To completely uninstall (including configuration files), select "Mark for Complete Removal." To uninstall while saving your preferences, select "Mark for Removal."

Click Apply.

Select Google Chrome from the "To be completely removed" menu.

Click Apply.
Go to control panel -%26gt; install/uninstall programme -%26gt; select chrome -%26gt; click on uninstall.

Now, you done your job.

But chrome is a good browser.Uninstall Google Chrome?

thats retarded

google wouldnt waste there time giving out directions for freeI was told Google has a phone # to call if you are lost?
that's not totally true. but if you text a keyword or name of a business to google(466453) it will give you the info on your request. try it. it's free and fastI was told Google has a phone # to call if you are lost?
Googles has a plan for a 311 number. Some cities, like Toronto, already implemented a 311 number.

This 311 # is kind of like 411, but it can route you to service operators, or do a google search for you on the phone to find businesses and whatnot. Some of its automated by computers, and some by person.

The 800 # : 1-800-GOOG-411

  • Print online maps w/ routes but NOT directions?

I want to easily print just maps and the From/To route, but NOT turn-by-turn directions. Is there a good online solution? Right now with Google Maps (for example) I either have to print the map only (no path), print 19 pages of patronizing instructions with the path, or use Print Screen, paste, etc.--a pain in the ***.Print online maps w/ routes but NOT directions?
If you're a AAA member, they have TripTiks online now.

And on Google Maps, within print there's an option to include large map, and you could just print out the page that includes it, without the "patronizing" step by step instructions.

I need the shortest driving directions within Canada from Winnipeg, Manitoba to North Sydney, Nova Scotia.?

MapQuest and Google only provide directions within USA for travelling between these locations. I cannot find a site for Canadian travel only. Can anyone assist?I need the shortest driving directions within Canada from Winnipeg, Manitoba to North Sydney, Nova Scotia.?
Head east on the trans canada from Winnepeg. About an hour east of Thunder Bay is Nipigon, Ontario, take #11 and go through Cochrane, Hearst, to North Bay. In North bay take the trans Canada to Ottawa, missing the Toronto area altogether. As you enter Montreal from Ottawa, watch for the Champlain Bridge exit and head south towards Sherbrooke, Que. After crossing the bridge (10 km or so) you will head north on highway 30 towards Sorel which will take you back to the trans canada on the eastern side of Montreal, this way you will avoid most of the Montreal traffic. Head east on the trans canada through the rest of Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia to North Sydney. With 2 drivers going non-stop, you can do the drive in about 40-50 hours. It is a long haul and please watch for moose on highway 11 through northern Ontario. Tim's in Cochrane and Hearst.
Well you will not be driving through Texas I know that for sure.I need the shortest driving directions within Canada from Winnipeg, Manitoba to North Sydney, Nova Scotia.?
Call your local CAA office. They provide "triptiks" which have your route marked on a map, also points of interest, recommended accomodation within your budget and other neat stuff. Well worth the membership fee, and you get service to boot. Easiest route is just follow the Trans Canada all the way.I need the shortest driving directions within Canada from Winnipeg, Manitoba to North Sydney, Nova Scotia.?
First of all, I hope you realize the massive distance of that trip, its huge! anyway if you are crazy enough to do it lol, u can do it on mapquest, i do canadian directions all the time. if that still isn't working out for you use google earth. download the free program, place a placemark on winnipeg, a second on sydney and you cna then select driving directions and they will appear before your eyes! have a fun trip!
the 'TransCanada Highway' will definately be a starting point
Have you tried the Yahoo Maps?

Driving Directions from Sanford Airport to Disney?

Google maps takes me from the SFB airport to Hwy 417 South to Hwy 408 then connecting to I-4 near Dowtown then South to Disney.

Is this a better (faster) route than just hopping on I-4 near SFB from Hwy 417 North?Driving Directions from Sanford Airport to Disney?
Take the toll road and it is faster. Take the I-4 route and it will be cheaper
It's six of one and half a dozen of the other...417 south is pretty expensive as far as tolls go...as long as it's not near rush hour you may want to do 417 north to I-4 as you suggest...

p.s. if you want to skip all the traffic (408/I-4 can be pretty busy too) just take 417 south all the way to Disney...it dumps out on I-4 right in front of disney...tolls add up and it is slightly longer (just by minutes)Driving Directions from Sanford Airport to Disney?
417 to 408 is faster but there are lots of tolls. If you want to avoid tolls just hop on I-4 and go west (Tampa) till you hit Disney.

Driving Directions from Mid Valley Megal Mall back to Mont Kiara Plaza?

I recently moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and bought a GPS which is not worth a crap, anyway, I followed the directions to MidValley Mega Mall from Plaza Mont Kiara no problem but returning home my gosh, I got so lost. MidValley has many exits, according to Google map I am suppose to head toward Lingkaran Syed Putra, which exit is that from the parking space...any help is appreciated, lost and frustrated.Driving Directions from Mid Valley Megal Mall back to Mont Kiara Plaza?
    That is very complicated.

My best advice here is to use your GPS. But instead target a larger area, Mont Kiara or Sri Hartamas instead of any specific area within. This should guide you an easier route towards that general direction.

Basically when you're exiting Mid Valley the sign you should be following is Bangsar. This will bring you down onto a very busy street, where Bangsar Village (a huge shopping mall) should pass by your left, and then just go straight until you start seeing Hartamas signs.

    Hope that helps.

Again, the best way to do this is to use your GPS to give your a rough idea of where to start heading.
